JAPAN, KUPANG TIMES - The Japanese government said it has begun dumping more than 1 metric ton of radioactive water that has been treated to become the Fukushima Daichi nuclear power plant into the sea, Thursday (24/08/23).

Reported by Reuters, Tuesday (22/08/23), the plan received criticism from several neighboring countries, especially China.

and the plan, too, has come under fire from local fisherman groups, who fear their livelihoods are being threatened.

The Chinese government said it would expand its ban on imports of seafood from the Fukushima City area and surrounding areas.

"I have asked Tepco to immediately prepare for the disposal of 1 metric ton of radioactive water, according to the plan approved by the Nuclear Regulatory Authority,"
