JAKARTA, KUPANG TIMES - The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia announced data on the number of rabies cases in Indonesia from January to April 2023.
In April 2023, there were 31,113 Rabies Cases, 23,211 Cases of animal bites, which had received the anti-rabies vaccine, and 11 Cases of Death, which were caused by rabies.
Based on data on active rabies cases, Bali Province is in first place, with a total of 14,827 active cases of rabies.
In second place, is occupied by the Province of East Nusa Tenggara, with a total of 3,437 active cases of rabies.
While in third place, is occupied by the province of South Sulawesi, with a total of 2,338 active cases of rabies.
Rabies is a serious health problem in Indonesia.
Because in the last three years, cases of bites by rabid animals, every year, have reached 80,000 active cases of rabies, and their deaths have reached 68 people per year, according to the Director of Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases, Imran Pambudi, during a press conference, live on the official YouTube channel of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, last Friday (02/06/23).
In 2023, the Government is quite intense, vaccinating humans, which will be distributed throughout the Province, as many as 227,000, vials of vaccine.
