ENGLAND, KUPANG TIMES - "All students in the UK are expected to receive Mathematics Lessons, at least until the age of 18,"|Rishi Sunak (Prime Minister of England)

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak plans to implement the rule and deliver it in his first speech in 2023, published by The Times, Thursday (05/01/23).

"We are one of the few countries in the world, where it is not compulsory for our children to learn Mathematics until the age of 18,"

"And, currently, only half of all 16-19 year olds are studying Mathematics,"

"This step was taken as a provision for children in England to prepare for their future,"

"where are the current statistics, many support all areas of work,"

"[Right now] in the world, data is everywhere and statistics back every job, letting our kids go out into the world without those skills, failing our kids,"

"So we need to go further,"

"I will make numeracy the main goal of the British Education system,"

"And I also plan to move throughout the education sector,"

"so that children can learn some forms of Mathematics, even if those subjects are not included in the required A level,"

In response to the speech by the British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, above, the Association of School and College Leaders said that; "Currently there is a phenomenon, the lack of National Mathematics teachers in England, which is a challenge in itself for Sunak's plan,"

The UK Minister for Education, Bridget Phillipson, asked Sunak to show how she could do more to encourage and fund more Maths teachers.

Tory MP Education Committee Chair Robin Walker, appreciated the steps taken by Sunak, while giving advice, that;  "Glad to hear the Prime Minister is today committed to the Mathematics education programme,"

"However, if we don't get the right approach to stimulating and supporting children early on, they won't have the opportunity to thrive within the school system,"
