JAKARTA, KUPANG TIMES - The increase in cases of kidney disorders in children raises public concern.

For this reason, parents are asked to be aware of certain conditions in their children.

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, urges every parent, especially those with children under five, to regularly and consistently monitor their child's urination habits, every day.

"The need for vigilance for parents who have children (especially toddlers), with symptoms of decreased urine volume or no urine at all,"|reads the latest Circular of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Tuesday (19/10/22) yesterday.

The Circular was issued, in response to the increasing cases of mysterious kidney disorders or atypical progressive kidney disorders in children.

Until now, as many as 206 children have been reported to have kidney disorders, the cause of which is not yet known.

Atypical progressive kidney disease refers to a condition where the kidney function suddenly decreases.

This condition makes the kidneys unable to produce urine smoothly.

The decrease in the intensity of daily urination or not even urinating at all is one of the symptoms of a mysterious kidney disorder.

"In the early stages (mysterious kidney disorders), it is indeed the most sensitive that we see urine production,"

"Other signs and symptoms appear later,"|pediatrician, who is also a health consultant, Henny Adriani in a talk broadcast on the Indonesian Pediatric Association's YouTube channel, last week.

"Children who have passed infancy generally urinate 5-6 times a day or the equivalent of every 3-4 hours,"

"If it's less, then we have to think about whether there is a problem in the kidneys that causes urine production to decrease drastically,"

In addition to decreased urine production, kidney disorders are also usually accompanied by several other symptoms, such as:

1. Fever,
2. Diarrhea,
3. Cough
4. Colds,
5. Nausea,
6. Vomit.

"Based on my monitoring with other doctors, the development of this mysterious kidney disorder is fast and sudden in duration, and the worsening is also fast,"

"For this reason, parents are advised to periodically and consistently pay attention to some of the early symptoms of mysterious kidney disorders in children"

"Immediately take the child to the doctor or health care facility if it is observed that there is a decrease in urine production,"
